A very “green” home of the future in California, USA is currently under construction and JG Speedfit is a proud part of it. Casa Bella Verde, located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, is the dream home vision of Briana Aladeff, whose objective in building it is to create a real, live-in prototype for tomorrow’s most advanced, sustainable homes. The 7,500 sq. ft. (228,600 cm) home is constructed of ICF (insulating concrete forms) and is meant to last 1,000 years.

Speedfit fittings and PEX piping were selected by Briana to provide Casa Bella Verde’s domestic water supply from an underground well. Speedfit is one of 70 leading edge products going into the home. “Casa Bella Verde is a highly innovative, showcase project for the home construction industry,” says Maribel Pagan, John Guest USA’s Marketing Communications Manager. “We were very pleased to have been asked to participate and then have Briana’s selected plumbing firm, Beutler Corporation, do the whole house install, which was recently completed. Beutler is the largest heating and air conditioning company in the U.S.,
Beutler Corp. of McClellan, CA, plumbed both the main house and an adjacent guest house. Lead plumber on the job Jacen Twilligear, who did most of the installation himself, reports that using Speedfit saved time and effort. “We loved the fact the Speedfit didn’t require any use of tools. Usually we have to use 2-3 tools with other products, so this was awesome.”
Beutler’s Plumbing Division manager Dave Arellano agrees: “We found Speedfit to be very installer friendly and it definitely saves time on labor. Plus, you can easily disassemble the fittings if need be – again, without the use of tools.”
Speedfit passed the Eldorado County building inspector’s visit with flying colors, according to Briana. “He had never seen anything like this before,” she recounts, “and asked ‘what is this?’ You’re going to see a lot more of this,” she told him, “because this is the future.” The inspector was especially impressed with the fact that Speedfit held 150 psi for 15 minutes without any leaks throughout the whole house. “
